Holiday work - Part 1: Understanding the ‘The Elderly Challenge’

Q1)Explain in your own words, the FOUR key recommendations of the report.
1-Housing
All elderly should have a place to live in that help the elderly in almost every possible way it can.Housing should never only be applied to only one group of society only
2-Accessibility
Their possible transportation methods should be both easy and safe to use.These transports should allow the elderly to move out and about with much ease.
3-Healthcare
The elderly should have their healthcare taken care of,so that Singapore will continue to be a society of people that come from all walks of life.
4-Oppurtunities
The elderly should have more opportunities to mix in with the rest of society.

Q2)The CAI report states that there ought to be more rental housing options for the elderly by exploring its Vacant flats to VWO's,since some elderly prefer renting more than buying.

Q3)
1.-It is stated in the CAI report that Governments should top-up all Medisaves accounts of the less well-off SIngaporeans when there are budgetary surpluses for the elderly
2.-It is advised in the CAI report that the government should set up at least one caregiver center in order to support families in care giving through the provision of multiple information resources and programs.

Q4)
1-As an SST student,Planning activities for these elderly is a good option and if any funds are needed,we can donate them or get the funds from the school.

2-Spending more time with the elderly and interacting with them is a good idea to bring them into the community.

3-Sending food and provisions to the elderly who are not able to fend for themselves is possible and gives much help to those elderly who have no proper food to eat or money to pay rents and taxes.

I chose this question as many elderly have problems communicating with other people,so that is why they do not like to mix in with society as they might say something wrong or misunderstand.By helping the elderly in this area,they can mix in with society better.

Highlighted blue:How can society provide more help for the elderly
I chose this question as society now does not really care much about the elderly,and leaves them to fend for themselves.The elderly have cared for us when we were young,so I feel we should do same for them too.

Highlighted green:How do the elderly occupy their time by themselves??
The elderly need something to occupy their time and because most of their children do not have the time for them,the elderly will be bored.The elderly must be given something to occupy their time so they will not be bored out of their minds and be forced to suffer.

Week 5:An exercise on IDEATION

1.I think the main underlying theme for the clip is "creativity"
2.They must have imagination and be creative with their props.
3.I could improve my creativity by trying to draw more things and add even more details.My imagination could be improved by trying to imagine more things.
4.It would be useful in IPW as creative and imaginative ideas are the key to getting good marks.

Week5:sustainable design......a wow idea

1)"sustainable design"refers to a useful design of something that can be sustained.
2)Yes and an example is the food shortage problem and increasing need for land.
3)I think the man in this video got the inspiration from seeing people suffer from the lack of refrigeration,stored fuels,and vaccine storage.
4)It would provide the 1.6 billion people with access to storing vaccines,food and fuels.

Based on my research,there have been many organizations and companies trying to save the environment from mankind's selfish acts.
The organizations such as Eco-Singapore have been holding campaigns to save the environment.Here are some campaigns that ECO Singapore runs:

ans:I think research is important as it helps us find out about important information required for certain tasks.

ADMT Lesson 1:Personal Reflection

1.to me,ADMT is daily involvement of Art,Design,Media and technology.
2.To me,ADMT is important as without ADMT,the world would not have access to technological benefits as we have now,no media to communicate to each other across the globe,no design to make anything and not art to brighten the world.
3.I would like to be able to have a deeper understanding of Art,more capable in designing and be more knowledgeable about media and technology.

week2-Lesson 2 (part 1)-Environment

Mankind's selfish acts will bring harm upon the Earth unless it stops these selfish acts.
We can encourage people not to waste water,save electricity,stop pollution's and many other things as well.
We can have people to conduct Beach Cleaning to clear up pollution,paste posters on saving energy,and many such activities.Even if we each are only able to contribute in a small way,it does not mean we are not contributing at all.
