Holiday work - Part 1: Understanding the ‘The Elderly Challenge’

Q1)Explain in your own words, the FOUR key recommendations of the report.
1-Housing
All elderly should have a place to live in that help the elderly in almost every possible way it can.Housing should never only be applied to only one group of society only
2-Accessibility
Their possible transportation methods should be both easy and safe to use.These transports should allow the elderly to move out and about with much ease.
3-Healthcare
The elderly should have their healthcare taken care of,so that Singapore will continue to be a society of people that come from all walks of life.
4-Oppurtunities
The elderly should have more opportunities to mix in with the rest of society.

Q2)The CAI report states that there ought to be more rental housing options for the elderly by exploring its Vacant flats to VWO's,since some elderly prefer renting more than buying.

Q3)
1.-It is stated in the CAI report that Governments should top-up all Medisaves accounts of the less well-off SIngaporeans when there are budgetary surpluses for the elderly
2.-It is advised in the CAI report that the government should set up at least one caregiver center in order to support families in care giving through the provision of multiple information resources and programs.

Q4)
1-As an SST student,Planning activities for these elderly is a good option and if any funds are needed,we can donate them or get the funds from the school.

2-Spending more time with the elderly and interacting with them is a good idea to bring them into the community.

3-Sending food and provisions to the elderly who are not able to fend for themselves is possible and gives much help to those elderly who have no proper food to eat or money to pay rents and taxes.
